Sony Xperia Z4, Z3+ tablets get android Nougat Update; Xperia Z5 Update mysteriously halted
Published On 23-January-2017
The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is the new Sony device to receive the Android Nougat update together with the Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual.
But, the reports claims that the Nougat update for the Xperia Z5, which started rolling out in the beginning of this week, has been strangely halted with no word from Sony as to why.
Sony has prominently improved its delivery of software updates to its allotted Sony devices. A far cry from the long delay of last year, taking 5 complete months before the Android Marshmallow was rolled out to the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablets on March 2016.
Along with the Android 7.0 Nougat update only 3 months old, Sony has almost completed its Nougat roadmap along with the innovative device, the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet.
In the beginning of this week, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium started receiving the Nougat update.
Recently, Sony confirmed in a tweet that it has turned out the Android Nougat update to all Xperia Z5 smartphones also including the Xperia Z5 Compact.
The Nougat update on the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet and Xperia Z3+ devices are on a regions basis with consumers to receive notifications just in few days.
The only remaining Sony devices in the Nougat update roadmap are the Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra. Other devices in the Z4 series such as the Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4v released in the second quarter of 2015 would not get the update along with the exception of the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, private news sources reported.
But, the consumers feedback reported in the XperiaBlog unveiled that over-the-air Nougat update with build number 32.3.A.0.372 has appeared for few Xperia Z5 owners but disappeared and can no longer be found in Sony servers.
This affects the complete Xperia Z5 family including the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablets and Xperia Z3+ devices.
It is not obvious as to why the Nougat update was removed along with the few consumers saying it is a temporary halt.
Other claims that the firmware had some bug matters that need to be fixed before Sony pushes for mass distribution, reported another news source.
Bugs include issues along with the video playback, call stuttering as well as abnormal battery drain.
However, other consumers of the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablets have certified to receive the Android Nougat update.
