Apple's new 9.7-inch iPad is its inexpensive device yet
Published On 22-March-2017
Recently Apple has just simplified its series of tablet in a big way. The company has introduced a new 9.7 inches iPad, not the Air 3, just, iPad.
The latest model will seem extremely familiar on the outside; however there are a bunch of prominent under-the-hood advancements.
The consumer will be able to find a slightly older however still speedy A9 processor inside the device rather than the Air 2's aging A8X chip, and Apple has increased the capacities to provide its consumers either 32GB or 128GB of storage. (However, the sad thing is that there is no 256GB option available in the device).
This new mid-size model also features a larger display screen, though the resolution remains unchanged at 2,048 x 1,536.
The camera in the device is also same, for better or worse, along with an 8 megapixel shooter on the rear side along with a 1.2 Mega Pixel front camera for video calling and selfies.
For most, the main deal just might be the price of the device. The enhanced updated iPad would be available from March 24th along with the selling price of almost $329 for the 32GB WiFi version, and $429 for the 128GB model ($130 more will get you an LTE version of each).
So far it is the lowest starting price for a medium-size iPad, and it is quite obvious that this is the new budget choice.
Actually, Apple has gone so far as to make the iPad mini 4 enough costly: it is now available along with 128GB of storage just for $399, and there is no iPad mini 2 to carry the slack.
Apple clearly feels that 9.7 inches represents its normal size going forward.
Our views about new iPad:
After having a careful look at Apple's iPad comparison page, we have found the new iPad's Achilles' heel. Its display is not covered in the glass and it does not have the anti-reflective treatment which is normally found on the display screen of every other iPad.
In comparison, the iPad Air 2, had a completely-laminated display screen, which eradicates a visible space between the display and the glass cover.
If you have utilized a device along with a laminated display (which includes most handsets out there now), the notion of going back there is not promising.
Undeniably, as a device that is basically meant to be a gigantic window to the internet, skimping on the display here is a bummer.
The price of the new iPad is still excellent, however, undoubtedly this is a budget iPad as compared to the Pro.
